The document is a comprehensive analysis of Genesis Chapter 28 from the Bible, focusing on its spiritual and metaphysical interpretations. It covers Jacob’s ladder, journey to Haran, his dream of a ladder reaching to heaven, and his covenant with God at Bethel. The material delves into themes such as divine guidance, spiritual awakening, and the significance of dreams and covenants in the biblical narrative.
Genesis 28:1-2
And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, “Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother’s brother.”
S Laban is the pure, the generous, the force that causes the spirit to grow. Canaan represents destruction or the destructive element within the force of man or the element that is of the physical-material or that which is steeped in revenge, selfishness, general warfare, power and the struggles therein.
Genesis 28:3-4
“And God Almighty bless thee and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people; And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.”
S Here lies the promise that is carried forth even from the time of Abraham through Moses and fulfilled in Jesus the Christ. This is the land of milk and honey that is the spiritual land or the soul land or the force of God as allowed to operate by the individual and through the individual.
Genesis 28:5-8
And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother. When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;” And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram; and Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
S This is merely following the orders of the spirit rather than pleasing the mental properties of us and desires of the physical, which so often are those that the individuals do their selecting, not only of their ways but of those that surround them and those they are joined with in all endeavors. If you would be as a spiritual person, then you will follow the dictates of the heart rather than that of the mind so much, unless the mind is in harmony with that which is the spiritual nature of yourself through prayer and meditation and truth. For it is given that you must know your true self and truly know yourself before you may be on that which is the true path or the path of light and love.
Genesis 28:9-10
Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife. And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
S This is then the joining of the forces of the will and the intellect to be on the spiritual path and to go forward in the search by joining, then, those two key elements of an individual that must be joined that spiritual progress may be made.
Q What are the two elements?
S This is the binding of the spiritual force by using the will and the intellect integrated to achieve the spiritual nature or the spiritual venture.
Genesis 28:11-15
And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, “I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.”
S Because of the spiritual search, the entity was given a covenant showing the breadth of the blessing of God and the result of a spiritual search. It is a sanctification of that individual for the job, for the duty that must be done. Each and every one of you must fall down, mentally and spiritually, upon your knees and then become even as the individual here, that which would lie down upon the earth or that which would take the firmness (as the stones are representative) of a foundation which is faith, and through that which are your acts, your meditations, your prayers, there will come that time when (even as to that individual, the heavens were opened up and figuratively and specifically that entity did see angels, saw the might of God and the way) even then for you it shall be done.
Genesis 28:16
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.”
S The enlightenment came to the entity, the place being not that place where he was to raise the stones for a temple or a church but as in himself, that through the dreams, through the actual opening, the entity knew of the spiritual force inside of self, united with the spiritual force without the entity making a oneness or closeness with God.
Genesis 28:17
And he was afraid, and said, “How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”
S Here the word should not be ‘afraid’ but ‘awed’. And the entity knew the magnitude of that which had been given to the entity, for the spiritual had been exposed to the entity. Therefore, the entity was awed and overwhelmed rather than full of fear and fright.
Q Is the word ‘dreadful’ also correct?
S No. It’s cast aside also.
Q What did he say?
S Awe.
Genesis 28:18-19
And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
S The stones here represent faith and upon faith he built his temple and in that place within self was the spiritual worshipping place for that entity, the place physically became another dwelling place for mankind rather than a spiritual place as dedicated inside the individual.
Q What did the first name mean?
S That means internal or the internal seeking or even internal light.
Genesis 28:20-22
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: and this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto Thee.”
S This is the sealing of the covenant that dedicating the spiritual activity or the spiritual place of self to God. For then the stone becomes that which is faith, and the covenant then is with God, saying that the spiritual dues will be paid even as mentioned here, one tenth. But remember, the tenth is in the mind, in the actions, rather than so often given as the material tenth asked so often as a tithe among many churches and peoples of this time.
And now we give that which is love, peace, and the forward vision, the forward motion that is God’s to give. In the name of the Lord thy God we give you love.
