This document is a detailed analysis of Matthew 18 from the Bible, focusing on Humility, Faith, and Forgiveness; spiritual and metaphysical interpretations. It discusses various teachings and parables, including themes like humility, forgiveness, and the importance of faith. The analysis delves into the deeper symbolic meanings of these narratives, emphasizing spiritual awakening and inner transformation.
Matthew 18:1-4
At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
S Here you have that which is the example of what self must do within: to become that which is wholly humble before God, causing self to be as that which is noncritical, nongrasping, nonhating. For as ye become these things, so ye become as that child, which represents, here, a new thought within the body, and the changing of that from old ways to new ways, returning to that which you were before time –clean and pure and trusting, overcoming that which are the tentacles of the earth, which is the ego itself, or that which is the devil, the intellect, which would seize upon the earth to wend its way, to make itself, then, master of this plane.
Matthew 18:5-6
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
S Ye should not lead astray anyone, including self, even in the mildest, the smallest of things. Ye must keep strong before you that which is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Ye cannot allow that which is the smallest bit of knowledge to be cast aside, destroyed. For wisdom itself is that which is using knowledge, and sin itself is not using the knowledge. Therefore, the child, here, represents the knowledge. For man can never be great in his knowledge, but only at a minimum can he have that which is the truth within his being. And yet, the Truth is the way, the Truth is the light that will set you free, that ye may become that which is totally free, totally light, and full of knowledge and wisdom.
Matthew 18:7.9
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
S This, then, is the warning of that which is the karmic origin of that which one would consider disease, crippling, madness, what have you. Here, then, is the warning: it is better to come in maimed than to create that within the life that will cause others to be maimed and self to come back the worse for it – rather to suffer before than after. For if ye suffer after, ye have caused suffering to others, and this is that which is the leading of astray of self and those who have been offended. For there are those who must learn, but woe to those who make them learn. For they, too, are gathering the karma. If ye come in as the Master of Life, in His way, in His truth, following His pattern, then ye may forgive and cleanse the sin, which then cleanses the physical of the body, the mental of the mind, giving purity and forgiveness. It is then that those who have been freed must continue, or they have lost the opportunity.
Q Are you saying here that it is possible to pay your karmic debt before it’s incurred?
S And to prevent that which is the karma of others to being increased. And in doing so, coming in as a cripple, or maimed, or mad, what have you, that you have lightened the load of others in doing so. For you have freed them of that karmic order of things that they were to do to you. This is mercy and the understanding of the use of mercy. For many have applied same, unknowingly in their lifetime but preconceived at the entry.
Matthew 18:10–11
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, “That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
S All have angels. Here is that which strengthens to man the understanding that you may turn to that which is a higher body. And yet, pray not to angels, but to God. For God is the Creator, the First Cause. There is none other. For even He, Jesus the Christ, though christed, knows the Father rather than the angels, and looks upon same. And yet, the angels of thought are those that are pure and clean. Cast them not aside, belittle them not, love them, use them. For they are that which is as the help that ye are given.
Q In the reading on Matthew 18:10-11, “angels of thought that are those that are pure and clean” are spoken of. What are angels of thought?
S You are gods in the making, and gods create angels just as surely as God the Almighty created angels. Purity of thought creates angels. They become the messengers of the deed. They become that which lights the way for you and for others of your creation in those worlds. Think you not that angels will not be necessary in the creation that you are abuilding? [10-126, 2-4-84]
Matthew 18:12-13
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
S Not only does God rejoice at the return of one, even as exemplified here, it is also that which ye must achieve-the realization that nine being the material number and ninety-nine being the total, once again, of nine, to be or to overcome, then, the material, not just in the actions of self in the goodly way (for this is John, you see) but ye must search one more step and find the Christ. For this is the One ye must search, this is the One that will bring the joy into thy life and into God‘s life, that ye have found the Way, the Truth, and the Light.
Matthew 18: 14
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
S No man is lost. No thought is lost. That which is the negative can become the positive. That which is the deadly may become that of life. That which is noncreative may become creative. This is the way of God. But it is for the individual to turn it to that which is as its use, rather than the destructiveness or the earth-bounding idea or way. So, it is for those who would find the light to bring forth each and every positive thought, putting aside the negative. For they are that which will be left behind, becoming naught.
Matthew 18:15–18
Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: If he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
S Here, there is that which is not only the policy of religion of its day, but the thought for now: if ye would take counsel within yourself in all things, always going higher and higher to the highest of body, always forgiving, always seeking for that which is as the judgment beyond self, and not judging yourself, or your brother, or your sister, or actions, but leaving it to God, there is that also, then, which would free self. Then, as given, if ye would bind on earth, ye are bound by that which is of the earth. But if you would free that of the earth, you are free of the earth yourself. For here, then, is that which ye must understand: in the freeing you are binding and in the binding you are freeing. Even if it sounds as if it is opposites, it‘s true. For you must bind that on earth that it must be freed, and ye must free that which must be bound. For as heaven is an opposite of earth (and heaven lies within self) you must adjudge and adjust within self, even if, as it were, that those things would handicap self, must be met, must be bound or freed. Yet, if ye free it within the earth, it is for others to be bound. So ye must be guided by that which is the inner light in the actions, whether freeing or binding. –
Matthew 18: 19
Again, I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
S Where there is belief, the faith within self and within others, there lies the Christ. For, in self, where the mind and the spirit come together, where, then, the two which are mind and will call forth the spirit, all may be achieved. For then the will of the Father is in works.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
S Here again, then, is that which is the resumption. For the spirit, even as given as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is present within man, replaced, then, by mind, will, and soul. For God is present, ever, wherever man is. For even as given, no matter where man goes, God is. No matter where the mind goes, God is. Then cleanse thy mind, thy body, that the soul may not be ashamed of that place that ye would take the God Force of self.
Matthew 18:21-22
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
S Even as nine is the finishing number, eight is the material number, and as long as you are in the material you should forgive. It is as simple as that.
Q The Source explains the significance of forgiving seventy times seven with an explanation of the numbers eight and nine. What is the reason for this and how does it tie in with seventy times seven? [10-46]
S For those especially that have the leaning towards the numerology which is so rich a part of that which is as the learning procedure on processes and guidance, eight, once again, being that which is as the material finishing number, or the sign or significance of overcoming of that which is the material, or that which is the direction or the understanding of the material physical; and nine being the total overcoming of that which is as the spiritual, physical, mental balance – or imbalance, rather – in this plane.
Q Earlier ‘‘nine” was given as the material number, now we are given ‘‘eight‘‘ as the material number. Please comment on this apparent difference.
S No difference! For in the material the ending is nine. The material number is eight. The ending of the material world and the material self is eight, thus it is also nine, see?
Q Was there a distinction between the five that was the Jewish Law five times forgiving–and the seven suggested by Peter by the seventy times seven?
S Oh yes. You see first of all, that is the five senses, the five perfected senses, that Judaism, the Hebrew, worked the more upon. lt is that which is as the vacillating number. It is that which is as the choice of going on to that which is the higher, or the seven, even as you understand the seven centers to be.
Q In the opening portion of your answer about numerology, are you suggesting that we should make a study of this – each one of us?
S No, but [to] take into consideration (when it come to you in these readings, or the questions that have significance to yourself or that you might find for others) when you study that which are as the Testaments, that which are the Scriptures, that which is the Way. [10-46, 5-13-78]
Matthew 18:23-27
Therefore, is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
S Here you have that which: as ye treat your body, or that which ye have treated others in the past, shows forth in the life (itself) needs at this time. Those things which ye have done are forgiven by God. That is mercy. Ye have come in doing less to yourself than is called upon in that which is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. For this is the Christ. This is as Jesus has won for selves, the promise that He will show mercy unto thee.
Matthew 18:28-35
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying,” Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So, when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, “O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise, shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
S What ye sow, ye reap. And what is given in mercy is not overcome, then, at the lower level or the smaller of karma, so the karma becomes greater. And this is the warning for those who know: that if they do not use that which they know, so greater is the karma made. And for those who delve into their pasts, so they create a greater karma for themselves if they do not overcome the more, and greater than they have been asked to (of selves) accomplish.
